The second coin in the Australian Bush Babies II coin series has been released by The Perth Mint! The coin features a possum surrounded by native Australian flora.

This is probably my personal favourite of the set because I think possums are great. I have a couple of little eastern ringtails that I can often hear and see frolicking about the tree next to my bedroom window. I jokingly named them Snickers and Milky Way once and the names stuck.

The possum featured on the coin is a common brushtail, inspired by the ones that hang around my parent’s place in Western Australia (which also all have names and have a new home under construction by the way!). I’m sure most people in Australia have encountered these little guys on more than few occasions.
